Looking for an inspiring, hands-on learning experience for your home-educated child?

Our Home Education Woodland Groups at Tumbledown give young people aged 7–16 the chance to learn, explore and grow in a beautiful woodland setting.

Forget traditional classrooms — our sessions are all about getting outdoors, getting stuck in and learning through adventure!

🌿 Two Groups, Designed for Different Ages

🕤 Wednesdays | 9:30am – 11:00am | Term Time

🌱 Group 1 – Ages 7–11
Year 3–Year 6 / KS2
Led by Jodie

🌳 Group 2 – Ages 11–16
Year 7–Year 11 / KS3
Led by Sam

The groups run separately, with both groups coming together for a shared campfire experience.

🔥 What Will They Get Up To?

Every session offers opportunities to learn practical skills, develop confidence and discover something new.

Activities may include:

🪵 Forest school skills & tool use
🔥 Campfire cooking
🎨 Outdoor crafts
🌿 Nature-based projects
🧭 Team challenges
🐞 Woodland exploration
🏕️ Problem-solving & practical challenges
🌳 Time to connect with and explore nature

We aim to create an environment where young people can build confidence, creativity and resilience, while developing practical skills and independence.

💚 New to the Group?

If your child hasn't attended before, parents and carers are welcome to stay for the first 2–3 sessions to help them settle in and feel comfortable.

🎒 What Should They Bring?

We spend as much time outdoors as possible, so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather.

We recommend:

• 🧥 Waterproof coat

• 👖 Waterproof trousers

• 👕 Long sleeves and trousers

• 🥾 Wellies for the woodland

• 👟 Trainers to change into afterwards

• 🧶 Warm jumper / layers

• 🧢 Sun or winter hat

• 🧤 Gloves when needed

• ☀️ Sunscreen & insect repellent from April–October (children must apply this themselves)

Please don't send children in jeans.

Children are likely to get muddy, wet and wonderfully grubby! Layers are best so they can add or remove clothing throughout the session.

🥪 Food & Drink

Please provide:

• A snack

• A refillable water bottle

Campfire cooking will feature in some sessions.

🌰 Our groups are NUT FREE, so please make sure snacks do not contain nuts.

🪵 We've Got the Equipment Covered!

There's no need to buy or bring specialist equipment — we provide everything needed for the activities.
